The Marine Ecosearch Management Co., Ltd.

   The Marine Ecosearch Management Co., Ltd. was established by the Coral Reef and Benthos Research Unit,(the original name “Plathong Reef Ecosearch Biologists: PREB”), Centre of Excellence for Biodiversity in Peninsular Thailand, Prince of Songkla University in 2000. The unit aims at promoting the research in coral reef ecology and benthos diversity and its management, especially in Southern Thailand where coral reef resources and benthos diversity are not well studied. We are among the prominent group in coral reef studies and management in Thailand. Our recent works include the guideline for the Post-Tsunami Conservation and sustainable rehabilitation of coral reefs, and the evaluation of artificial reefs in Southern Thailand. The research centre would like to increase a capacity to do a basic research on coastal biodiversity and the environmental impact assessment. Other staffs in the centre are doing coral community, synchronous spawning and recruitment or reef corals in the Gulf of Thailand as well as coral reef restoration. According to our hard work, we have never missed any important habit especially marine habitat in southern Thailand. We have discovered many marine resources including a new reef in front of Had Mai Khao beach, Phuket and some coral reefs in Songkhla and the offshore islands of the Gulf of Thailand.

“We believe in an interdisciplinary approach. Our staffs, both permanent staffs and invited specialists from other Institutes, have been working together for many projects. Our good relationship and coordination will be benefit to particular projects involving many fields of knowledge.”
